Feels Like Paper Cut

These photographs taken in Malaysia are symbols of the failure of progression I feel in this beloved country of mine. Back in the 70s, Malaysia used to have a higher GDP than Taiwan and South Korea. Today, both countries have since progressed and left Malaysia behind. Destroyed by corruption, Malaysia is going through a difficult period of time where it’s government are linked with the biggest financial scandal in the world. This has resulted in the Ringgit (Malaysia currency) being one of the weakest in the region.

Feels Like Paper Cut is a visual project on documenting the sign of failure of this country. Asia are experiencing explosive growth in economy and social-culture. However, the same thing couldn’t be said to Malaysia and I started noticing these signs back in 2013. As time passed, these signs become bolder, almost screaming at me.
